The cinematic essay combines documentary and fictional elements. On April 22, 1942, the director’s grandmother’s Jewish husband was deported from the Gestapo district of Düsseldorf with 1,000 other Jewish people to Izbica and was murdered there. The director’s father was born 9 months later. Was his father the last son of Fritz Kann, or was he born because Fritz Kann was deported and murdered?
